The Carol J. Christiansen Memorial "Dragon Lady" Nursing Scholarship
The Carol J. Christiansen Memorial “Dragon Lady” Nursing Scholarship was created through a partnership between Sunrise Rotary of Alturas and MMC in honor of Carol J. Christiansen, a loving, nurturing caregiver and the mother of Modoc County resident and Veterinarian Dr. Joseph L. Catania.
A successful candidate of the “Dragon Lady” Scholarship must embody and personify the spirit, integrity, work ethic, and tenacity of the 5’2”, ornery Italian woman that Carol was. Recipients must also enroll in an eligible LVN or RN program.
Each year, applications are accepted from May 1 through July 31 for the spring and fall semester. Applications for a spring semester will be automatically renewed if you pass all courses in the preceding fall semester.
Recipients will be awarded $1,000.00 per qualifying semester.
To submit an application or to inquire about the Dragon Lady scholarship, please email info@modocmedicalcenter.org or deliver a physical copy to the MMC Human Resources Department (229 W. McDowell Avenue).
