Dr. Edward Richert joined our team in 1981. Dr. Richert grew up in California and went on to attend Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy.
He remained in Illinois for some time and received his Master of Science in Biology from Northern Illinois University. Dr. Richert then received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Illinois-Chicago in 1976.
Dr. Richert then returned to California for his Residency and Fellowship which were performed at Ventura County Medical Center. Shortly after completing his Fellowship in 1980, Dr. Richert came to Alturas where he began a private practice and also became the Modoc County Public Health Officer and Medical Director for the Warner Mountain Skilled Nursing Facility (now known as Warnerview Skilled Nursing). He worked with the community at his private practice until 2003. In 2003, Dr. Richert also became the Medical Director of Modoc Medical Center and has served in these positions to date.
Dr. Richert is also a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Associations and lives with his wife.
Dr. Hagge joined our team in 2023. He was born right here in Alturas during a blizzard and was raised on a cattle ranch. He went to Undergrad in Rexburg, Idaho and graduated with a BS in Health Science.
He and his family moved to Virginia where he was blessed to attend Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine, earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2020.
He and his family returned to California and he was blessed to completed his residency in Rural Family Medicine at Shasta Community Health Center Family Medicine Residency program in Redding; a UC Davis affiliated residency program. During his residency he additionally completed a year long Primary Care Psychiatry Fellowship.
He is excited to return home and help the community he was raised in. He enjoys all aspects of medicine and is excited to be able to provide medical care both in our clinic and hospital settings. He has brought a passion for wound care, pediatrics, OBGYN, mental health, hospital medicine, forensic medicine, sports, addiction medicine, point of care ultrasound, healthcare advocacy and healthy living with him.
Heather Caldwell joined our team in 2019. She attended Carroll College in Helena, Montana shortly after high school, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Business in 2009. During this time, Heather was also a Beef 4-H Club Leader in Henley, Oregon.
Heather then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Echocardiography from the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, Oregon in 2014. She also worked as a Sonography Physics Aide from 2012-2013 and became a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer after graduating from OIT. Heather then worked to further her career and graduated in 2018 from Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana with a Master of Science in PA Studies.
Heather has experience in Family Practice medicine and enjoys working in rural medicine to provide exceptional care to help the well-being of patients.
Tony Reynolds joined our team in 2022. Tony grew up in a small town less than an hour's drive from Birmingham, Alabama. He attended Bessemer State Technical College, receiving his Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) diploma in 1995. Tony then attended the University of Alabama, earning his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN) in 2007.
Furthering his education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAM), Tony received his Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner, in 2011. Since 2012, Tony has remained nationally certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board.
Tony began his career as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a rural Mt. Sterling, Illinois, family clinic before working in urgent care and an emergency room in Alabama for a few years.
Tony has lived in Alturas and has served our community since 2016 before joining the MMC team in 2022.
Dr. Edmonds joined our team in 2021. He was born in Greenock, Scotland to American parents serving in the Navy. He was raised outside of Seattle and graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1994.
He then went on to serve in the active-duty Air Force, participating in flight operations over Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, and other regions of international conflict. After fulfilling his service commitment, he attended Penn State Milton S. Hershey College of Medicine, earning his MD in 2008.
Dr. Edmonds completed a residency in Family Medicine through Oregon Health and Science University in 2011. Specializing in rural and frontier medicine, he has been an independent full-service Family Medicine physician, rural health clinic Medical Director, and full-time Hospitalist.
Dr. Edmonds’ areas of interest include preventive medicine, hospice, and palliative care. In addition to his current duties as Chief Medical Officer of Modoc Medical Center, he has extensive experience as a Hospice Director and currently serves as Medical Director for two hospices and a separate palliative care program.
Wendy Richardson joined our team in 2020. Wendy was born in Cedarville, California, and attended Modoc High School. Before attending CSU Chico, she was a starting player on the State Basketball Champion Team and the State Volleyball Team.
Wendy became a PA in 2008, after graduating from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, California. In addition to her Master’s degree in PA Studies, she also holds a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology.
Wendy has experience in Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, and Neurosurgery. She worked as a PA and in other capacities in facilities across California, including Concord, Laguna Beach, and Los Angeles. A small-town girl at heart, Wendy decided to return to her roots and rural care in the community where she was raised.
Wendy is also a veteran that achieved the rank of Captain in the Army Medical Reserves, having begun her service in a Medical Support Unit in 2013.
Wendy lives with her husband and their 2 rescue pups.
Dr. Raymond Mandel joined our team in 2023.
Dr. Torman is a visiting surgeon who joins us several times a month to perform minor gastroenterology procedures.
